A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
