Assassin's Creed Reveals Unexpected AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre partnership that challenges traditional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Revealed
According to the authorized announcement, "A strange confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of prohibited rituals and monstrous changes echo through the darkness." The plot features a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine cult.
The adventure focuses on "strange tests and a terrifying adversary" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Transformations
The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Extra Features
Players who finish the adventure will receive an exclusive katana in addition to multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Update
This update also introduces the game's latest no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
